If you scan the spec sheets, the 100-Series and the 200-Series can look like the same chambers stretched in different directions. They share the same controls, heating options, chamber height, and rack hardware. Both series feature doors on each end of the chamber for drive-through loading, but the door size and loading geometry are where they diverge.
For producers who do the math on what an extra batch per week is worth, that design choice can be the most consequential one in the whole evaluation. Here’s why.
The two loading geometries, in plain terms
100-Series. Dual 4′ doors, one on each end of the chamber. The 100-Series comes standard with 4′ doors but can be upgraded to 6′ doors for operations that need the extra clearance. Racks roll in and out through either end along an 8′ face.
200-Series. Dual 6′ doors, one on each end of the chamber. Racks roll in along a 16′ face, twice the width of the 100-Series, and the drive-through configuration means you can load from one end and unload from the other without repositioning equipment.
The total loading height (6’0″) and the rack format are the same on both series, so the racks themselves are interchangeable. What changes is the geometry of getting them in and out.
What dual-end-door access actually buys you
Three things, and they compound.
When the math actually favors the 200-Series
The MD210 covers the same per-batch capacity range (4,800–9,600 lbs of wet product) as the 100-Series MD120. On paper, that makes them direct competitors for the same operation. The choice between them usually comes down to two questions:
Question 1: What does your facility floor plan look like?
The MD120 has a 13’4″ deep × 29’0″ long footprint, long and narrow. The MD210 has a 21’4″ deep × 15’0″ long footprint, wider and shorter. If your processing room is long and narrow, the MD120 fits cleanly. If it’s wide and shallow, the MD210 will be the better neighbor for the rest of your equipment.
Question 2: How much does loading and unloading time matter to your weekly throughput?
If you’re running one batch every two days and you have time between cycles, the 100-Series MD120, especially with the standard 4′ doors, is probably fine. If you’re running batches back-to-back and the bottleneck is changeover time rather than drying time, upgrading to 6′ doors on the 100-Series or stepping up to the 200-Series will earn back its incremental cost over a remarkably short period.
When you really need the 200-Series
For batches above 9,600 lbs of wet product, the question isn’t really 100 vs. 200; it’s MD220 or nothing. The MD220 holds 96 racks and 1,920 trays, and runs 9,600–19,200 lbs of wet product per batch. That’s the entire 100-Series MD120 capacity, doubled, in a 16′-wide chamber with 6′ doors on each end.
At that scale, the drive-through loading design isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s load-bearing. A high-volume jerky line, a national-scale pet treat operation, or a co-packer drying business that needs to support multiple customers from one chamber will feel the difference every shift.

The 200-Series is a different operating experience than the 100-Series, even when the per-batch capacity is the same. The dual-end-door design changes how product flows through your facility, how labor gets allocated to loading and unloading, and how many batches you can realistically complete in a week.
