Run Your Drying Cycles on Your Terms; A Look at the FD60’s Control System

Product Highlights

One of the biggest pain points in commercial food dehydration is consistency. Batch results can vary based on ambient conditions, product moisture load, and, most frustratingly, operator error. The FD60 addresses this head-on with a sophisticated yet operator-friendly control system that gives you precise command over every aspect of the drying process.

A touch-screen controller that does the thinking with you

When the FD60 powers on, operators are greeted by a Home Screen that displays all the critical real-time metrics at once: chamber temperature, relative humidity, fan speed, cycle time, and active alarm status. Everything is a single tap away. To change a setpoint, say, bumping the temperature from 120°F to 135°F mid-cycle, you simply tap the parameter box, key in the value on the number pad, and confirm. The system updates immediately.

Multi-step scheduling for hands-off operation

The FD60’s real power for operators lies in its schedule management system. Rather than babysitting the dryer through a single fixed temperature run, you can program up to 10 sequential steps, each with its own conditions and logic for when to advance.

There are four step modes to choose from. A Time step runs for a set number of minutes, useful for a consistent warmup phase. A Temp step holds until the chamber reaches a target temperature, which is ideal for the initial heat-up period. An RH step advances when relative humidity hits a specific target, letting the product’s moisture content drive the cycle rather than the clock. And a Validation step is purpose-built for food safety: the system holds both temperature and RH at specified levels for a defined period before advancing, exactly what’s needed to meet USDA and other agency guidelines for kill steps in meat products.

Once a schedule is built, you can save it to an SD card by name and reload it for future runs. Running the same product every week? Program the schedule once and load it in seconds.

Remote monitoring and data logging

The FD60 lets operators monitor and access controls remotely via smartphone, tablet, or computer, so you’re not tied to the production floor to keep an eye on a cycle. The built-in data logging system records temperature, humidity, and setpoint data every minute to an SD card, and logs are accessible without ever removing the card; just log into the dryer’s onboard PLC from a web browser on your local network.

The result is a complete electronic record of every batch you run. That matters a great deal for food safety audits, customer documentation, and continuous process improvement.

Alarm visibility you can actually act on

When something goes wrong, the FD60 doesn’t leave you guessing. The alarm screen surfaces active fault conditions with color-coded status indicators and specific alarm codes, from blower overloads and heat safety trips to refrigerant pressure warnings and sensor communication faults. The manual provides a complete alarm code reference so operators can diagnose issues quickly and get back to production.

The FD60 puts serious process control in the hands of real food producers, not just engineers. That’s by design.
