For food producers who need serious throughput, a wide temperature range, and the reliability of gas-fired heat, the Nyle FDG600 is purpose-built for the job.
The FDG600 is an indirect gas-fired batch dehydrator designed for large-capacity commercial operations, such as high-volume jerky manufacturers, mushroom processors, herb and spice operations, and any food business where peak temperature, cycle speed, and consistent airflow are non-negotiable. While it shares the same chamber footprint and rack capacity as Nyle’s heat pump FD60, the FDG600 is an entirely different machine under the hood, and the differences matter.
The FDG600’s heat source is a GHV 8 indirect gas-fired burner with an 800,000 Btu/hr output. “Indirect” is the keyword for food operators: combustion gases are fully isolated from the drying airstream. That means the air circulating over your product never contacts exhaust gases; only clean, heated air touches the food. For NSF-certified food production environments, this distinction is critical.
The system runs on natural gas or propane, giving operators flexibility based on their facility’s utility infrastructure. Installation includes expert commissioning from Nyle’s team.
The FDG600 operates across a drying temperature range of 80°F to 220°F, 60 degrees higher than what a heat pump system can deliver. That upper range matters significantly for products requiring high-temperature processing: certain high-heat meat products, specific vegetable and grain applications, and any protocol that calls for a documented thermal process above 160°F. If your product or regulatory requirements push you into that upper thermal zone, the FDG600 is the system that takes you there.
The chamber accommodates 18 racks and 360 trays, with a total of 1,170 square feet of drying space and batch loads ranging from 1,800 to 3,600 pounds of wet product. Like all Nyle systems, the interior is stainless steel, NSF-certified, and built to food-grade standards throughout. Expert installation is included in the starting price.
