Meet the 200-Series: A Wide-Loading, Dual-Door Modular Dehydrator Built for Volume

Product Highlights

When a producer’s batch sizes start pushing five figures, the equipment conversation changes. You stop asking “can the chamber hold it” and start asking “can we get it in and out fast enough?” Nyle’s 200-Series is built specifically for that scale of operation.

What “200-Series” actually means

The MD-Series Modular Dehydrator splits into two families based on the loading area. The 100-Series uses an 8-foot-wide loading area with a single door. The 200-Series doubles that:

  • 16-foot-wide chamber (versus 8′ on the 100-Series)
  • Dual doors for easy loading/unloading and faster batch turnover
  • 21’4″ total footprint depth (versus 13’4″ on the 100-Series)

Same controls, same heating options, same chamber height (12’0″ total), and the same 6’0″ interior loading height as the rest of the line. The racks and trays are interchangeable across both series. What you’re buying with the 200-Series is throughput per cycle and operational efficiency per batch, not a different operating philosophy.

The two 200-Series chambers, side by side

There are two chambers in the 200-Series, both pulled from the MD-Series sales sheet:

MD210

  • 48 racks, 960 trays
  • 4,800–9,600 lbs of wet product per batch
  • Loading space: 16’0″ D × 14’0″ L × 6’0″ H
  • Total footprint: 21’4″ D × 15’0″ L × 12’0″ H
  • 3 fans, 2 vents, 2 sensors

MD220

  • 96 racks, 1,920 trays
  • 9,600–19,200 lbs of wet product per batch
  • Loading space: 16’0″ D × 28’0″ L × 6’0″ H
  • Total footprint: 21’4″ D × 29’0″ L × 12’0″ H
  • 6 fans, 4 vents, 4 sensors

Two things worth noting. First, the MD210 covers the same per-batch capacity range (4,800–9,600 lbs) as the 100-Series MD120. The choice between them often comes down to facility geometry and loading workflow rather than capacity. Second, the MD220 doubles that load again, taking the 200-Series up to 19,200 lbs of wet product per batch, a meaningful production volume on a single chamber.

Multiple heating options on the same chamber

Like every chamber in the MD-Series, the 200-Series decouples the chamber from the heating system. You pick the energy source that matches your product specs and your local utility economics:

  • DH-145 high-efficiency heat pump: 145 lbs/hr water removal at rated conditions, drying range 80°–160°F, auxiliary validation step to 180°F.
  • DH-225 high-efficiency heat pump: 225 lbs/hr water removal, same drying and validation ranges, sized for higher-throughput chambers.
  • GH6 indirect gas-fired burner: 600,000 Btu/h energy output, drying range 80°–220°F (natural gas or propane).

All three options run on 400V three-phase, 50Hz or 480V three-phase, 60 Hz. For most 200-Series operations, the DH-225 and the GH6 are the leading candidates, though the right answer depends as much on your product as it does on your utility bill.

Who the 200-Series is built for

The capacity range across the 200-Series, roughly 4,800 to 19,200 lbs of wet product per batch, is squarely aimed at high-volume commercial production:

  • Established fruit and vegetable processors running large batches of apples, mango, peppers, tomatoes, herbs, or mushrooms
  • National-scale pet treat manufacturers producing jerky-style treats, sweet potato chews, and freeze-alternative products at retail-distribution volumes
  • Jerky and meat snack producers running daily batches with documented validation steps
  • Co-packers and contract dryers who need to support multiple customers from a single high-throughput chamber

In all of these cases, the 200-Series gives you the same precision-control and remote-monitoring story as the smaller 100-Series chambers, but at a per-batch capacity that supports a genuinely industrial operation.

The dual-door advantage

The single most important operation of the MD series; it’s how the product moves in and out of the chamber. The 200-Series dual-door design lets the operators load racks in the front while another unloads the previous batch from the back. For a high-volume operation where loading and unloading time eats into total cycle availability, that can meaningfully increase the number of batches you complete per week, sometimes more than the raw capacity numbers suggest.

Built to commercial standards

The 200-Series is NSF-listed, sealed with NSF-approved gaskets and silicone caulking, and built in the USA with U.S. and imported parts. Each chamber ships with multiple temperature/RH sensors, two on the MD210, four on the MD220, so the controller is reading conditions across the entire 16-foot-wide loading area, not just at one corner. For producers who care about consistency from rack to rack across a large chamber, that’s the difference between a passing audit and a failing one.

The bottom line

The 200-Series is the right call when your batch sizes have outgrown the 100-Series and your loading workflow benefits from a wide, double-door chamber.
