Moving from a 600-tray dehydrator to a 30-rack, 600-tray system isn’t just a capacity increase; it changes how you think about every aspect of the drying process. The FDG1000 is designed from the ground up to manage the airflow, heat delivery, and cycle control demands that come with processing batches of up to 6,000 pounds of wet product at a time.

More chamber, more heat; matched deliberately

The FDG1000’s GHV 12-burner delivers 1,200,000 Btu/hr to service a chamber that holds two-thirds more product than the FD60 Gas. That burner-to-chamber ratio is engineered to maintain the same 80°F–220°F operating range and the same recovery characteristics, so when the door opens between loads and cold, wet product fills the chamber, the system has the thermal capacity to climb back to setpoint without extended lag.

This matters most in high-throughput operations running multiple batches per day, where chamber recovery time between loads directly affects daily output.

30 HP reversible plug fan, moving air through a larger space

The FDG1000 uses a 30 HP industrial plug fan to drive airflow across all 30 racks. Operators can adjust fan speed as a percentage of full output and program those adjustments into each step of the drying schedule. The fan direction is fully reversible. Operators can independently schedule forward and reverse run times, alternating airflow direction at programmed intervals during a cycle. In a chamber of this size, the benefit is even more pronounced: periodically reversing the airflow direction helps counteract the natural tendency for upstream product to dry faster than downstream product, resulting in more uniform moisture removal across the entire batch without manual rack rotation.

Fan direction is controlled from the Equipment screen on the touch-screen controller, and both direction and speed are programmable per step in the scheduler.

Per-step vent control for precise moisture management

The FDG1000’s two 30″ × 30″ intake and exhaust vents are programmable per schedule step, expressed as a percentage of full open. This gives operators direct control over exhaust aggressiveness at each phase of the drying cycle, higher vent percentages early in a run when surface moisture is plentiful, and tighter vent positions later when the system is drawing from deeper within a dense product load and needs to hold temperature more carefully. For large batches with longer cycle times, this kind of staged vent control is often the difference between a consistent result and a batch with significant variation across racks.

Four-probe monitoring across the chamber

The FDG1000’s home screen displays real-time readings from four temperature and humidity probes. This split-probe configuration gives operators visibility into conditions on both sides of the airflow path, including the temperature differential between supply and return air, which is a useful real-time indicator of how actively the product is releasing moisture. The trend screen logs all probe data over the previous 24 hours, giving a complete arc of any completed cycle for review.

For operations running large, high-value batches, this level of monitoring provides the confidence that a complex, multi-step cycle is actually executing as designed.
