Nyle Food Dehydrators is pleased to announce that 4 of its food dehydrators, each powered by an energy-efficient heat pump, have been delivered to a processing facility in the central United States which will be used to dehydrate chicken products that are made into pet treats. Each machine is an FD 60 Drying System with an oversized drying chamber to accommodate large quantities of chicken supported on custom-built racks.
Nyle’s heat pumps provide precise control of temperature and relative humidity in drying chambers where air circulation components deliver laminar airflow across all racks resulting in uniform treatment of the product. The ability to adjust the temperature, relative humidity, and air speed creates the ideal environment to process meat products where control of final water activity is crucial. In addition to providing the optimal conditions for processing jerky and other products, heat pump dehydration systems do not require any fossil fuels to operate, thereby eliminating carbon emissions.
The systems are arranged in two sets of two machines placed back to back to optimize space considerations at the new facility. Each drying chamber includes interior walls, perforated baffles, and ceilings constructed of stainless steel to allow frequent washing and sanitation for food safety.
Nyle’s food dehydrators are used to dry a wide variety of products, including chicken, beef, seafood, vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, coffee, root crops, and plant-based natural products, among others. The conditions in each dehydrator, which may be monitored and controlled remotely using a smartphone or tablet, may be profiled during the drying cycle to reduce dwell time as much as possible while preserving product quality characteristics such as nutrients, enzymes, color, texture, and appearance.
